Business Weekly Calls Sponsoring the BIG Summer BBQ 2013 a “Very Wise Move”!

Business Weekly LogoIt has been already been over two months (!!!) from the 2013 edition of the Creating Cambridge BIG Summer BBQ and the spirit is very much still alive! In case you were not aware, we were privileged with the opportunity to have Business Weekly as Gold Sponsor and its CEO, Tony Quested, recently sent us the note below which we are proud to share with you.

Mid-July in the UK and Business Weekly decides to be gold sponsor of a BBQ in Cambridge. A wise move? Very, as it turned out.

While it brings the prospect of branded galoshes and umbrellas into play, such a venture at any stage of an English summer can be wrecked by the gods who like to toy with earthlings. To be greeted by sunshine all the way – matched by wall2wall smiles just as warm from a large gathering of business people and friends – was a bonus.

The organisers of the Creating Cambridge BIG Summer BBQ did Business Weekly and the other sponsors proud with terrific branding and excellent care.

Everywhere one turned there was a potential new friend or contact waiting to touch base. That propensity for networking is what separates Cambridge from a lot of other business clusters in the UK and makes it so much more like Silicon Valley.

Because our website is so highly ranked globally – remarkably so for a B2B publication – we necessarily have to report on a lot of world-leading technology and industrial companies. But we don’t forget our roots. We remain a relatively small SME based in Cambridge that just happens to be influential internationally.

Events like the BIG Summer BBQ allow us all – one man bands to larger SMEs – to show that we share this special, eclectic and electric Cambridge DNA. We mix, we talk – we help each other. Equally importantly, when working hours can be intense, it is important for people to do ‘normal’ things away from the office environment.

We took a large party of leading Cambridge technology executives along. Surprise, surprise they are pleasant, normal, sociable folks who love a glass or two in good company. No airs and graces. Just like you – and you – and me.

So, on behalf of our party and all at Business Weekly, a huge thanks to the Creating Cambridge team for a fabulous night – brilliant venue, great food, terrific atmosphere, lovely people. Must be nearly time for the Christmas barbie!
